Spring is finally here and for a lot of people that means spring allergies. One of the best time honored traditions for keeping allergies away is nettles. Combining nettles with other immune boosting, histamine decreasing plant medicine like Reishi mushroom and garlic is sure to stop those allergies in their tracks!
Nettles stimulates the lymph system to boost immunity, reduces inflammation, lessens allergic rhinitis, decrease histamine reactions, contains high amounts of iron, chlorophyll, magnesium and essential amino acids. Combined with Reishi and garlic this is a powerhouse of a medicinal snack! Reishi is also known for regulating the immune system and lowering the histamine reaction.
Just be careful when harvesting!
8 cups of fresh nettles
1 cup cashews(walnuts or pine nuts)
5 garlic cloves
Juice of half a lemon 🍋
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup organic olive oil
1 tsp Reishi powder
1/4 cup yeast flakes
Rinse the nettles off in cool water. Blanch the nettles in boiling water for 2 minutes. Rinse with cool water. Place all ingredients in food processor and blend. Add more oil if needed.
This is perfect on top of gluten free pasta with sautéed shiitakes.
