The Paradox Of Being Busy

I play the guitar. I also write, do modelling, study for my Master’s degree and just started up my own company. Fair to say my schedule is pretty full. Some would call it busy. I call it life.

Busy is a key word used in society these days. It has become quite a popular term to use as many people associate being busy with being productive. But let’s not forget that there is a difference between a jampacked planner and gratifying filling your day.

You have different passions, obligations and ways you want to spend your free time. You want to do everything, but how? First of all, don’t limit yourself. Human beings were created with the intention to be ever moving. Life means development. Therefore, change and variation is key. In the end, it’s not about how productive you are or how full your planner is. It’s about your own individual journey and doing what your instinct is telling you to do. Your life’s path cannot be measured by a planner. As long as you do what floats your boat, you cannot be sunken. Tap into your intuition to create your own balance and don’t sell yourself short.

Secondly, you can be engaged in various activities and live out different aspects of your life as long as you are living it in a grounded and balanced manner. Like a tree you have to be grounded to be able to bend in the wind of life’s challenges. It’s not so much about overdoing it in terms of time as it is about boundary management and protecting your ideals and priorities. When you are not in balance your emotional state starts to waver. Feelings that can pop up when you are in an unbalanced state are anxiousness, stress, worry and the idea of being overwhelmed. These are classic burnout symptoms and much too common in today’s society. Make it a priority to strive for a balance and enjoy your choices when you make them. Balance is not something you find but something you have to create yourself.

Stay curious. Allow yourself to explore your dreams. You can do whatever you want whenever you want. There is no rulebook. You make your own rules. Dare to look for that balance when you juggle to explore different aspects of your life. If it doesn’t work out, that’s another lesson learnt. Adjust, move on and don’t put a stop on your dreams.

Sincerely,

A busy bee
