So whats all this fuss about green juice? Well we’ve been hearing for a couple of years now about the magic powers of Green Juice, From DR Oz to celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder- top health professionals and media figures are singing the praises of green juices and it’s positive impact on our health.
According to the US department of agriculture, as adults we are supposed to consume 3-5 servings of veggies per day and 2-4 servings of fruit. One green juice can give you almost your days worth of fruit and veg needs in the one sitting. The more fruit and veg we eat the healthier our bodies are, this is why more and more we are encouraged to eat a ‘plant based’ diet and juicing is a wonderful part of that!
When you juice veggies and fruit your body finds its easier to absorb the nutrients contained within the food, this is because the process of blending and juicing is like a ‘pre digest’ for the body. Due to poor food choices in our life our bodies digestive systems have suffered and it can be very taxing to break down our food and absorb the necessary nutrients. This means that more often than not we are failing to gain the optimum nutrition from our food sources. Juicing makes this whole process a lot simpler for us.
You can enjoy a green juice during any part of the day, I personally love it for a great kick start to my day and have mine first thing in the morning. It’s really handy for people living a fast paced lifestyle and to be able to have a juice on hand to guzzle in the car on the way to work can make life alot easier.
The great thing about the green juice is that you can custom make it anyway you like, just remember to use more veggies than fruit and be sure to drink it soon after you juice it because veggies and fruit in this form can perish rapidly.
I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin since juicing, it is much more supple, radiant and glowing and I just look more youthful in general. My energy levels have soared and it really gives you an instant kick of vivaciousness. It’s almost like someone shot a good dose of serotonin into my veins! I always feel my happiest and healthiest self when I’m regularly juicing.

Tez’s green juice recipe
Handful of baby spinach
5 big kale leaves
Handful romaine lettuce
1/4 cucumber chopped
3 celery sticks chopped (don’t include the ends of stick, chop off and discard)
Juice from 1 lemon
Juice from 1 lime
Small handful of blueberries
1/4 cup water (add more for a juicier consistency, less for a thicker smoothie)
Blend and pour into glass.
Sprinkle some organic cinnamon powder on top to taste
Note: Try interchanging fruit and different veggies as you wish, remember 1-2 pieces of fruit 4-5 different types of greens
