The ‘Green Dream’ Smoothie

The Green Dream Smoothie

We all know that a key to living a healthy lifestyle is eating your greens, but sometimes that can be hard for those people who don’t enjoy eating a bowl full of leafy salads or raw kale and spinach. So here’s an easy, quick and DELICIOUS way to get your greens in, and fuel up for the day! I have this smoothie nearly every morning and it makes me feel so good inside and out!

The ingredients in this smoothie are packed FULL of amazing goodness-

Dark leafy greens like spinach are important for skin and hair, bone health, and provide protein, iron, vitamins and minerals. Ripe bananas improve mode due to their tryptophan levels, they’re packed full of energy, aid digestion and protect against muscle cramps and injury. Juicy mangoes are great for your hair because they contain vitamin A, a nutrient required for sebum production that keeps hair moisturized. Vitamin A is also necessary for the growth of all bodily tissues, including skin and hair. The antioxidants in pineapple such as vitamins C, beta-carotene and the vitamins and minerals and copper, zinc and folate have properties that affect both male and female fertility. And last but not least, passion fruit contains good levels of Vitamin C and the consumption of fruits rich in vitamin C helps the body develop resistance against flu-like infectious agents.

AND you’re getting all of these benefits first thing in the morning, what more could you want?!

‘Green Dream’ Smoothie Recipe

Serves 1

2 handfuls of spinach

5-6 frozen bananas

1-2 cups of frozen mango

1 cup of pineapple

2-3 passion fruit

Coconut water

Blend the spinach with around 4 cups of coconut water on high speed until the spinach is completely broken down. Add in the bananas, mango and pineapple. Blend on high (or pulse blend) until all ingredients have been combined and the smoothie is a thick, but smooth consistency that can be poured. If it’s too thick, add in more coconut water and blend again. If the blender is having difficulties blending the frozen fruit, use a spatula or spoon to push it around between blends.

Cut open the passionfruit and scoop out the inside and pour into the bottom of a mason jar, or preferred drinking cup. Once smoothie is blended, pour on top of the passionfruit and serve!

This smoothie is my favourite combination of sweet and freshness, so I hope you enjoy it as much as me!
