Fermented Cabbage (Sauerkraut) is probably the last thing that comes to your mind when thinking of smoothie ingredients but do not worry as you won’t even taste it, and it adds to the overall freshness of the smoothie. Sauerkraut is high in Vitamin C and in its raw form (stay away from heated sauerkraut sitting on a shelf, make your own instead or buy a raw version) it has a positive impact on brain health, working against depression and anxiety. It is also high in iron, folic acid, fibre and probiotic bacteria – which makes it a superfood for women and mamas + supports a balanced hormone system and digestion.
Memorize this: every single cell in your body is affected by the gut. Fermented food is so potent and incredibly good for you. Jam-packed with natural antibiotics and alkalizing compounds it regulates blood sugar levels and so much more goodness!
Are you in the need of a mood lifting, supporting, strengthening and calming tool? Load yourself up with millions of good bacteria and try out this recipe! My staples are kombucha, yogurt, sauerkraut, miso, tempeh, pickles and nut cheeses. An amazing health boost and so valuable. The larger the variety the better the outcome for your overall health.
